Artist's Statement
While it is the nature of photography to render details with precision, the
reality of my images is abstract, without narrative. Each view, is a record of
light itself, a picture of nothing, a point of brilliance in an endless
progression.
Like an individual brush stroke, the photographic print covers, overlaps and
exposes different aspects of the same, original view. The image is deformed,
obscured and twisted to create tension and intensity.
These photographic constructions create universal abstractions of space,
movement, color and light. They retain a dynamic between the whole work and the
constantly present individual unit. Informed by and facing common issues with
painting, each piece is an original, made with multiple, color photographic
prints from a single negative.
